First Housing: Here to Help
What if I need to cancel or change a registration?
For our LIHTC trainings, First Housing will issue a refund for any cancellation requested in writing 30 days prior to the event. Cancellations requested within 30 days of the event are non-refundable; however, a credit may be transferred to another individual within the organization for the same event date. For Florida Housing Workshops, refunds are not offered; however, a credit may be transferred to another individual within the organization for the same workshop. Private Trainings are scheduled based on a set number of attendees, so refunds are not offered; however, a credit may be transferred to another individual within the organization for the same event date.
Can I register for a training or workshop session on the day of the session?
Admission at each training or workshop is limited to an event-specific number of attendees. Walk-in registrants will only be accepted based on space. While there may be space, guidebooks and other applicable training materials are not guaranteed. We do not bring a large amount of extra material to workshops and trainings.
How is payment handled?
Payment and registration can be handled through a direct online link related to the specific event. First Housing also accepts all major credit cards by phone. If a registrant prefers, a check may be mailed to our office. When sending a check, please include the registration form and/or a letter indicating the event and mail to: First Housing, 107 S Willow Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
What happens if a session is cancelled?
In rare instances, trainings and/or workshops may be canceled or rescheduled. Although a full refund of the registration fee will be made in such cases, First Housing University is not responsible for other costs incurred, such as airline tickets or hotel costs.
What are the lodging options?
When possible, for the convenience of our attendees when trainings are held at a hotel, First Housing will offer special group rates. We are not recommending the hotel nor is lodging at the hotel mandatory. When trainings are located at our office (107 S Willow Avenue Tampa, FL 33606) it is recommended to map the surrounding area to see what hotel best fits your lodging preferences and needs. First Housing does not make hotel arrangements for overnight stays. Participants should make arrangements directly with the hotel. Hotel accommodations are not included in the registration fee.
How does First Housing accommodate special needs?
Please indicate on the registration form or via email if any special accommodations or disability-related assistance is required. To help best meet that need, First Housing requests that special requests be made as far in advance of the training or workshop as possible.
What exams and designations do you offer with your courses?
For our LIHTC trainings, we offer the optional Housing Credit Certified Professional exam (HCCP) on the third day of our training event. This is a nationally-recognized exam sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). For our online compliance courses taken directly thought FHU, there is a quiz at the end of each course. These do not result in any special designation; however, a certificate of completion will be issued after successful completion of the quiz. For our Florida Housing Workshops, there will not be a quiz or exam offered at the end of the workshop, but a certificate reflecting the number of training hours will be issued at the end of the event. For our specialized private trainings, there may be optional quizzes offered to test the attendees’ knowledge, though a special destination will not be achieved. A certificate reflecting the number of training hours will be issued at the end of the event.
When will I get my HCCP exam results?
The HCCP exam is administered by First Housing, but grading results and notification are handled by the National Association of Home Builders. If you have not received your results seven weeks from taking the exam, contact Michelle Carrington at MCarrington@nahb.org or at (800) 368-5242 x8174.
